Thirty Days hath September will see Alison tackle an artistic activity every day during September 2017. Some will be small, personal challenges, and others will involve a variety of people, places and companies, but all are designed to push Alison out of her comfort zone while raising money for a charity whose cause is very close to her heart.
Alison created this project in 2013 after graduating as a mature student in Fine Art from Arts University Bournemouth, but this time she hopes to make the personal challenges even bigger.
‘Originally, Thirty Days was about making my way out in to the big wide world but this time it is the next stage on. I’ve been in a career whirlwind since then so the challenges are all designed for me to explore new projects and discover what elements of my profession really excite me’
Alison is a Dorset based artist and art tutor, specialising in mixed media paintings inspired by the countryside that surrounds her studio. She is also influenced by her own family history, film and particularly song lyrics that conjure up responses to the natural world. Alison can regularly found in magazines and on television, demonstrating materials for a variety of art manufacturers.
Events will include working with community projects, a daily blog, workshops and creating a piece of art every single day. This will culminate in an auction at her studio where all the work will be sold to the general public with the proceeds going to Alison’s chosen charity, Oakleaf Enterprise.
Oakleaf is a mental health charity that helps people on their journey back to employment through support methods and work experience in practical skills such as upholstery, garden maintenance and IT training.
Alison is fortunate to have the support of two companies; SAA – The Society for al All Artists and Love From the Artist, two leading arts organisations who have worked closely with Alison and are looking forward to assisting her with the event.
